Design Engineer
JOB TITLE Design Engineer

Working with: R&D Department and wider Bloc Blinds Business

Bloc Blinds are looking for a Design Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of our next generation of blinds products. As Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new products, improving existing products, and ensure that all designs meet the highest standards of functionality, durability and aesthetics. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical design, materials and manufacturing processes, particularly in the context of blinds and window treatments.
What we will ask of you:
- Design and develop new blinds products from concept to production ensuring they meet customer requirements and industry standards.
- Create details 3D models and CAD drawings of products and components using software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD or similar.
- Develop and test prototypes to evaluate design concepts and make necessary adjustments based on performance and feedback.
- Select appropriate materials for product components to optimise performance, durability and cost effectiveness.
- Collaborate with team to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective to produce, providing technical support during the production process.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures to ensure products meet all relevant standards and specifications.
- Work closely with cross functional teams, including marketing, sales and production to ensure successful product launches.
- Prepare details documentation, including design specifications, test reports and user manuals.
What we are looking for:
Essential
- Third level qualification in Mechanical Design Engineering, Product Design Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in product design.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling and CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials and manufacturing processes
- Experience with prototyping and testing
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable
- Experience with design injection moulded components.
- Knowledge of designing aluminium extrusion profiles and PVC extrusion profiles.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to window treatments.
- Familiarity with automated and motorized blinds systems.
